Why Proper Welding Is Essential for Home Lift Stability

At Beacon Industries, we recently helped a customer troubleshoot a home lift installation issue.

After the lift cabin was installed, the customer noticed shaking and instability during operation.

After checking the installation carefully, we discovered the main reason:

The platform had only been bolted to the support frame, without final welding.

Why This Causes Cabin Shaking

Bolts are useful for positioning and temporary fixing, but for a home lift platform, welding is necessary to create a rigid and stable structure.

Without welding:

  • Small movement can occur between the platform and frame
  • Structural rigidity decreases
  • Cabin vibration becomes more noticeable
  • Long-term stability may be affected

Once the platform and frame are fully welded together, the entire structure becomes significantly stronger.

Why We Ship the Platform Unwelded

Some customers ask why we do not fully weld the platform before delivery.

The main reason is shipping efficiency.

A fully welded platform creates a much larger package size. International sea freight charges are highly dependent on cargo volume, and oversized packaging can substantially increase shipping cost.

To reduce transportation expenses for customers, we design the platform with pre-drilled bolt holes for easier on-site assembly.

This is our platform, we drill the holes by laser cutting and make sure all the bolts exactly in right position:

Recommended Installation Procedure

Step 1 — Position with Bolts

First use bolts to align and fix the platform accurately.

Step 2 — Spot Weld the Structure

Apply spot welding after alignment is confirmed.

Step 3 — Test the Cabin

Install the cabin temporarily and test operation before final welding.

Step 4 — Complete Full Welding

After confirming proper operation, perform full welding between the platform and frame.

Section welding is recommended to reduce heat deformation.

Step 5 — Final Installation

Reinstall the cabin after welding is completed.

The structure should now be:

  • Stable
  • Strong
  • Reliable
  • Smooth during operation

Professional Installation Matters

Even the best lift structure requires proper installation methods.

Correct welding and assembly can greatly improve:

  • Lift stability
  • Passenger comfort
  • Structural strength
  • Long-term durability
